CJ MONÉT PRESENTS
CONFESSIONS OF A PEOPLE PLEASER
VINYL EDITION
Coming fresh from the vulnerability of her last self-released project, CJ Monét explores vulnerability further in her debut studio album, “Confessions of a People Pleaser.” Created alongside multi-instrumentalist powerhouse and lead engineer Josh Emick of the68Sound, the two artists dive deep into their lived experiences and pour their hearts and souls into these records exploring themes of loss, aging, and unlearning past behaviors They do this with the help of countless and fellow live North Carolinian instrumentalists and vocalists such as Sonny Miles, Matt Laird, Jordan Leeville, Elora Dash, Santel Reid, and many more.
Every version of the album has been carefully mastered for its medium by the wizard Grant Livesay, and shaped to honor how the music will be experienced because each medium carries its own weight, its own character, its own way of holding the songs.
This vinyl edition, though, holds something especially personal. It is not only CJ Monét’s first vinyl release, but also the version where the album’s dynamic range breathes the widest—where the live instrumentation can fully stretch, swell, and settle. It’s a listening experience meant to feel close, warm, and alive in a way only vinyl can carry.
The vinyl won’t officially be available until the summer, in about a 6-8 week timeframe, but today—here in Durham, North Carolina, with the record playing at home—it felt like the right moment to open the pre-sales.
Enjoy.
